Trapped

Does it ever feel like the walls are closing in on you?

Some frogs can jump to 7 feet

But the walls of the well are 8 feet tall.

Where water once was now lays a bed of dirt

And a single green rock that croaks.

It sees one small cloud through the stone frame above

And nowhere to go.

Happened to the frog king in his own home.
A well once filled by a stream once prosperous

I really love that, It's so simple and true, the last little part on the end almost doesn't seem to fit but I still like it

Thanks for the review! I see what you mean. I tried to shift the perspective in the poem from third person omniscient to almost that of first person omniscient (it's describing the frog and then what the world is to the frog from the bottom of the well). I get how that isn't clear. I tried to hard to just keep the poem short.

oh, I see that now, not supper clear but I get it now and I don't think it's too short but if you have the inspiration to keep going I would never suggest stopping early.

It definitely is! The metaphorical frog thought the well was a pond though. Full of opportunities. The metaphorical frog thought wrong.

This made me pity for the frogs as they are trapped. It also reflects how land has been turning dry and no water supply comes along the way and the land deteriorates into garbage. Well done!

Thanks for the review! Yeah I wrote this in hopes of instilling a sense of pity. Except I was hoping, too, that people would pause after the poem and think about their own situation. I often feel like I am one such frog stuck under the well. I didn't even notice all the allegory to land and deterioration. That's really awesome that you noticed that!
