shattered petals of roses

shattered petals of roses

A Poem by empty glances
"

whirl around and stare numb out the window.

"

I'm watching the headlines get grimmer and grimmer,
ice flames of hate consuming
this torn tainted world but what can i do,

so i flip the paper face down on the table,
whirl around and stare numb out the window.
These overcast skies have never looked darker, and January
winds have never been so chill blowing

the dying warmth out from me into
the frozen atmosphere.
The shattered petals of roses are lining the path, cutting
our feet, and it hurts so much to run away,

to run for our lives. Just don't try to go back
treading on the broken pieces of yesterday; your dreams
are all that's left of tomorrow.
I think it's true
what she said,

that the sorrow crawling under our skin leaves indelible marks,
but no one get out of this unscarred.
