River to a SeaA Poem by empiethreeImagine living in England during the industrial revelution of the late eighteen hundereds. You just lost your job too a newly developed machine that does the same thing faster, more efficiently and more cost effectivley. Your wife and childeren are hungry
River too a Sea
Heavy waters break the silence
For the priceless song in me
Shades of darkness for my likeness
Forever sailing the open sea
And the waves crash upon for all to hear
And the wind chills me
For the Promised Land that we were meant too have
Reveals nothing, but the sea
Stormy weather, cloudy mist fills
My stomach trembles empty in me
Forever waiting, contemplating
Further torture of the sea
Heavy pain grows
Missing the meadows of mother England banished me
For We’re feeling worse, We are Forever cursed
Held captive by the sea
And the salt stings our skin and kills our throats
And the fear grows in me
For the Promised Land that we were meant too have
Reveals nothing, but the sea
So the wind blows against the shadows
Of the men I used too know
Deathly silence, for fear of violence
So damm richous the leaders grow
And where we’re going, no ones knowing
We’re just floating in the breeze
We’ll be gifted, when the curse is lifted
When the southern land we will cease
And this old wooden box will stop and hit the shore
Even so we know we’re not free
For the captain never speaks of casualties
His only witness is the sea
Heavy waters break the silence
For the priceless song in me
Shades of darkness for my likeness
Hide my hatred of the sea
And we sing and we shake and we cry for them too let us go
As another convict jumps too be free
His last words as he jumped overboard
Is that life is a river too a sea
