TONIGHT

and again... this day is just another day...

Tonight

I will run a bubble bath

Soak for a while in Hibiscus beads

Let the scent of flower softly seep into my skin

I’ll breathe

Close my eyes exhale slowly

Tip my glass of White Zinfandel

Secretly cheers to what I was cheated out of

And hope for a little ease

 

Tonight

I will lazily parade around my room

In the color for lovers

Red lace

I’ll flip on some music

Coco butter my body

Sit down in front of the mirror on my makeup stand

Paint my lips with pink strawberry gloss

Outline my eyes with smoky black

Against shades of brown sand

 

Tonight

I will blow dry my hair and curl it with style

Pick out rings to dazzle my ears

A chain for my ankle

I’ll make way to my closet

Tamper with a few pieces

Then cover the color for lovers

With a strapless short formfitting deep blue dress

 

Tonight

I will slip my feet into black high heeled shoes

Keep a light black over coat at hand

I’ll breathe

Close my eyes exhale slowly

Wipe away my real want

As it meekly falls down my cheek

 

Tonight

I will hear a knock at my door

Feel my nerves and heart jump still

Invite him in

I’ll let him tell me how beautiful I look

Take the Rose

Smile in appreciation

And insist “you didn’t have to do that”

 

Tonight

As I sit in conversation

Wined and dined 

With a man who reaches for my attention

I will feel the lingering presence

And dismiss it with a plea

 

Tonight

I take another attempt

Finding 

some peace

Outside looking in on this one...and it's a very pretty view. Romance can still manage to bring the days a pause of celebration.
