Not a poem. Just a rant...

Twenty young souls evaporate.

Did it give you pause?

 

Children with stars in their little eyes.

Anticipation of recess or a play date.

Did you mourn before you defended your right?

 

“Yes, but did you know bare fists killed more people last year than guns?”

“Cars kill people, why don’t you ban them?”

 

Go arm yourself if that is what helps you sleep at night.

Change the subject.

Feign outrage at the socialist in the White House.

You sick b*****d.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that our response to this happening was in practically the same words. Yours is way more concise and to the point. This is definitely a rant, but it is effective, how you contrast the outrage of this tragic loss of life and someone belligerently defending their rights immediately on the heels of this horrific thing. They waited six years or so to care about all the rights we gave up because of 9/11. It should give us all pause.
