The Immortal Jellyfish

The Immortal Jellyfish

A Poem by SLOVA

Now and then
I lie awake
And pretend that I am
Completely different

I take my own hand
And pull it hard
Until the bones pop
Until the fingers hurt

Ache as I might
In my heart and my head
Aching as my body is
It doesn't work

I am here indefinitely
And no one else can come
I am my own mess
And from there I press on

Interesting point of view. Someone wanting to be different, finding ways to tell themselves they are alive in that moment, like pulling their arms until they ache just to feel the pain...
I really liked this piece. It has an eery type of feeling to it, which always pulls a reader closer. It also feels personal, and at the same time ordinary. Like a feeling everyone has at least once in their lives.. Great write

I agree and I liked your thoughts.
"I am here indefinitely
And no one else can come
I am my own mess
And from there I press on"
Easy life or hard life. We must keep going forward. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
