Coming of Age

Coming of Age

A Poem by SLOVA

In our darkest hour
People change
We will lie and cheat and steal
In our darkest hour
People speak
We will have a change of heart

In our minds we are something great
When we're trash we all return to space

I can hear Adam crying in the room next to mine
I don't have it in me to lie to him this time

We are the star
We are death
We are at odds with ourselves
Counting down what's left

We are lights
We are the streets
We are sick and kind and desperate
But we are free

I like the realistic feel of the poem.
"We are lights

But we are free"
We will play many parts in a long life. Some good and some bad. I believe all of us hope for a god ending. I like the above lines. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
