The Sight Within

The Sight Within

A Poem by Nicholas Hagenschneider

like reading a book

with your eyes sown shut

no ability to look

clumsiness leaves papercuts

so when you bleed out

through the tips of your fingers

the smell of your failure

will certainly linger

your blindly led to nowhere

no choice but to listen

you are aware

of the sight that's within

like walking through barb wire

with your eyes sown shut

no ability to look

clumsiness leaves deep cuts

so while you bleed out

through the wounds on your back

i have no doubt

that your blood will be black

your blindly led to nowhere

no choice but to listen

you are aware

of the sight that's within
