Escape The Expected

Escape The Expected

A Poem by Nicholas Hagenschneider

trapped inside this cage that is your heart

bleeding out onto what it is you call art

it's such a shame that now we must part

but still i bleed out at the start

and as i stare into this ugly abyss

i think of the things i feel i would miss

what comes to mind is the feel of your kiss

and how i'll fade away from this tragic bliss

escape the expected

now that i've accepted

this is not what i suspected

to escape the expected

surrounded by the view of your reflections

while lacking the need of your affection

not prepared for the virus of your infections

into such wonderful imperfections

so tell me why is it that you wear that frown

is it that your soul is no longer bound

come over but make no sound

for i'll help make what's lost to be found

escape the expected

now that i've accepted

this is not what i suspected

to escape the expected
