Splinter (Part One)

Splinter (Part One)

A Poem by Nicholas Hagenschneider

what's wrong with this version of myself

what's wrong with the frame

would it hurt to ask for help

or would i just feel the same

who was it that snapped this picture

this moment frozen in memory

this slighty painful splinter

pull it out as i count to three

i start with one

and prepare for it's removal

do it quickly so

don't wait for my approval

here comes two

my eyes shut in preperation

three begins my anxious formation

yet there is no sensation

if only this photo was taken today

if only it knew what to portray

us as the everlasting mortal

if only this photo was a portal

to take me to that moment

the moment i was who i needed to be

if only i knew what it meant

this moment frozen in memory

i start with one

and prepare for it's removal

do it quickly so

don't wait for my approval

here comes two

my eyes shut in preperation

three begins my anxious formation

yet there is no sensation
