I touched the sky.

I touched the sky.

A Poem by Emollient Heart

I touched the sky that day

saw the stars from so close

I could have kissed them

the trouble with the heavens and space

is that you run out of air to breathe

and you grow tired

and slowly

back home you float

because you don’t belong in space

but you can dream

it helps keep gravity

from keepin’ you down so low.

The whole poem reads like a pleasant dream. It's soft and smooth and easy to fall into, and the last two lines are perfect. Short and sweet, and full of smiles. I enjoyed the read--thanks very much.

Few people have touched the sky and lived to tell of it. I like this poem. I use to free climb when I was younger. I try to touch the sky many times. A very good ending. In the end if we are lucky. We find solid ground again. A outstanding poem. Thank you.
