Drowning

Drowning

A Poem by E.J. Michalec

My mind was a river
I was drowning in it's thought
Struggling to reach the surface
Gasping for a breakthrough
I had to let loose
And the waves took their toll on me
Drifting deeper into wild imagination
I tried to look for answers
But the current was much too strong
Thrown under
It was suffocating me
I needed to escape
But I had gone too far
Nothing could save me
For it was my own fault
Left to suffer
Tortured in the depths
Of my own mind
