The Awful Truth

The Awful Truth

A Poem by E.J. Michalec

I feared to face the facts

How I didn’t like my past

I was too scared to know

That it didn’t work in the end

I wanted to still be friends

Or at least pretend

My reality was broken

Like a puzzle missing a piece

I knew that it was you

Making my picture incomplete

So I guess I’ll take a take a seat

Hoping our time would come around

The really awful truth is

That I need you right now
