The Business of Dating a Jackass

The Business of Dating a Jackass

A Poem by E.J. Michalec

We were nothing more than two people backing a product that would never work
One where red flags were clearly listed in the ingredients list and yet I still sold myself out for it anyways
You were never even that good of a salesman and yet I let you take possession of my time, my most valuable currency that I couldn’t afford to give you anymore
I’m the only reason this s**t sold and yet you’ve gained all the profit
It’s become time to break the contract
The one written on your heart was full of fine print and unclear intentions and I’m done with that bullshit
According to my account here I’m worth so much more than you will ever deserve and you better believe you will NEVER profit from me again
You’ve kept me in this cubicle for long enough and now that you’re gone baby, I’m moving up

One of the more astute rants revealing how these bad life mistakes can go! *smile* I love your sassy style & cleverly-crafted ongoing metaphor, playing on the word "business" in your title. Just enuf profanity to give your message a punch, but not diminishing the astute overall quality of your observations. This describes exactly how stupid I've felt a number of times, just completely disgusted with my own bad judgment. Great job! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Ouch. But powerful and witty. We pay for what we get.

I enjoyed the lumped metaphoric feel to this piece. I certainly keeps you wanting for the out come which didn't disappoint at all

I resonated with this deeply and feel we must have been on the same wave length actually because my newest work is quite similar. I find you very talented and raw
