HuntersA Poem by E.J. Michalec
We are all just hunters here
Can’t see what’s in the distance but we Notice that it’s moving We’re just... hunters here Purely based on outlines we see it as a threat We are just hunters here We pull back on our tongues and we shoot arrows made of words We’re just... hunters here News stories are today’s catch using the netting that we rigged the day before We’re... hunters here Remove the guts from tragedies as if it’s just another day we’re just... hunters here But do we have to be? Why must we be hunters? Why not be gardeners instead? There’s so much abundant fruit that this world has to offer that is free to be enjoyed by every human being Fruit so sweet and beautiful down to its very core We may have done some damage but why not gather the remains and use them to fertilize a brighter future Dig down deep bury all the broken hearts knowing that something good can come from this if we root it in kindness Tend to our fallen kind because at the end of the day we are all one © 2018 E.J.
