Second Choice GirlA Poem by E.J. Michalec
I’m what you would call one of those second choice girls
Not leftovers or sloppy seconds Not ordered much at all One of those girls that simply can’t be considered the “safe option” An acquired taste One of those girls always a handful of votes away from being the item of the day One of those girls that is always listed but not pictured in a way that anyone can see how much she has to offer The aroma she gives off consists of thoughts and ideas cooked within her mind and served with a side of sass The recipe, a family secret Not many dare to taste her flavors She’s one of those girls that’s always been on the menu but not often chosen because all that she contains is just a bit too expensive for anyone to afford She feels as though no one wants her In reality? Everyone is simply too scared to ask for the check © 2018 E.J. MichalecFeatured Review
