L'Assassino

L'Assassino

A Poem by Eliza Valentine
"

Originally a sonnet written for my poetry class, I performed it at a poetry event in Glasgow called Reading The Waves alongside Tom Leonard and I have been asked to read it again at another event.

"
Others they would like to see your demise
I simply enjoy the thrilling times we share
A good man you are, but only in my eyes
I see your pain as you try to be just and fair
Evil men who stole from you your kin
Haven't taken your spirit ever reading to fight
Disguised in white robes I know that you'll win
In secret we meet in the dead of night
Our love stays hidden because there are more
Like me who wait impatiently for a glance
Or the sound of your voice as you walk through the door
To love an assassin is to have no balance
The creed comes first before any person of thing
You fall from the sky, flying with eagles' wings

This is the edited version of the sonnet so I know the syllable count isn't 'standard'
