A Poem by Emma Marie Taylor

S i l e n c e.

I can't stand the quiet.
It corrupts from within
It takes your whole being, screams through your skin
Wraps its intentions in lonely goodbyes
Suffocates words, to struggle, to die
Melts away letters, smudging the lines
Engulfing your mind with the emptiest sighs
Fighting the melody, destroying the cries
Enveloping an even more sinister kind
I crave its tranquility
But it cripples my mind
To sort through the madness
the chaos, the noise
It breaks my whole center, shatters, destroys
The little part left of me
Still breaking the sound
I cannot escape
or risk being found
I feel myself crack as I fold in compliance
Accepting the deafening, monstrous silence

' It breaks my whole center, shatters, destroys ~ The little part left of me ~ Still breaking the sound ..'

What a superb poem. meter fine, emotions written distinctly but not ultra dramatically. You have amazing potential.. am so very impressed.
