Fear

Fear

A Poem by Emma Marie Taylor
"

Sometimes the scariest thing in this world is your own mind

"
I'm afraid of the high limbs that hang from the trees
I'm afraid of the grass and the wind and the honey bees
I'm afraid of the lies that friends seem to say
I'm afraid of the life that I lead everyday
I'm afraid of my brother, my mother, my father
I'm afraid of the darkness
I'm afraid of the light
I'm afraid of this life never turning out right
I'm afraid of loving
I'm afraid of laughing
I'm afraid of trusting
I'm afraid of what others will see
I'm afraid of being afraid
But most of all
I'm afraid...
Of me

Favourite lines for me were the last 3. But in such a way that I am excitedly afraid of what is possible from within me and how I be the best me. The rest of the poem was good and showed that well basically you're afraid BUT if you fight back then who knows what possibilties are within.

Intresting and thought provoking read.

' I'm afraid of what others will see '

Emma, in that one line you've killed your fear because - all around those seven words you've shown strength of thought, intrepid confidence (yes, think about it!) and an imagination ready to play with emotions fictional and/or factual.

My only concern would be not to always surrender to the dark when writing but, to display youthful hope and joyfulness.. big please.
