Broken BookA Poem by Emma Marie Taylor Broken Book In the corner of myself Sits a story on our shelf A story of our love and lust The words of love, when we must Rhythms of kisses, touches, love Spoken in different, foreign tongue Whispers of a dying lung Our love was solid, silver steel Our love was magic But was it real? As the chapters moved ahead The pictures looked The words unread Our first words of bitter lies Left the world with graying skies Do I love you? I don't know. I can't tell if this is just a show A play, written by cruel heartbeats Hoping to fill all the stage's seats Your eyes have slowly lost its lust Our kisses have withered, died and rust Do I love you? Do you love me? Do you know? What I can see? I search inside myself Watching as our book Falls Off the shelf Opened pages to the end Eyeing corners that won't send Staring at pictures, left unshared For beside me You weren't there So the words ripped out of rage And the curtain closed the stage With one last thought With hearts I fought Maybe our story's end would change Maybe it wouldn't end this page If I hadn't left words unsaid Its the book, I should have read For now the pages, looks For all I see Is a broken book
