Shameless Chapter Twenty One

A Chapter by Emma Marie Taylor
"

Hey guys! SO SORRY i havent been online recently to post new chapters, my charger broke for my computer, but im glad to have it fixed and ready to write! Hope you like!

"
My hand shakily rests at the door. What am I doing here?

After I dropped off Jonah at his house, I headed straight for Daniel's hotel room he was staying at.
The secretary up front informed me he was staying in room 348. But I'm still nervous.

One. Two. Three. I knock, my fingers shaking.

....21, 22, 23.....

He isn't home. I turn to leave, just as the door opens. "Clara?"

I turn around, and smile weakly at him, "Hey." His hair is freshly washed, his bloody nosed wiped clean, and he is wearing a fresh white t-shirt, with a scruffy pair of jeans.

"Is it true?" I ask, my voice shaking. He doesn't look at me, he stares down at his sneakers, blond curls hiding his expression.

"Yes."

I can't help the sob that escapes me, the strangled, angry sound that confirms the scene that happened only twenty minutes ago. My best friend is a murderer.

Daniel steps close to me, grabbing my face, I try to pull away, but his grip tightens. "Clar, listen. It...it was an accident."

I slap his hands away, "Do you really expect me to believe that, Daniel?" He grabs at his hair, tears in his eyes, "It's true! It was an accident! i didnt mean to kill him! I'm sorry!"

I don't want to believe him.
I don't want to forgive him.
He doesn't deserve it.

But when I look into those tortured blue eyes, I see the scared little boy from six years ago, asking me how to get out of this place.

I wrap my arms around him, holding him tight, "Its okay."

He looks up at me, his eyes shining with tears, searching my eyes.

And without warning, as if we had our own signal, are lips are pressed together.

I wrap my legs tightly around his waist, kissing him with a hunger I've never felt before.

And its like that we stay, wrapped in each others arms,, lips pressed against each others, in a web of dried tears and sorrow and forgiveness.
