Shameless Chapter Seven

I know where you were last night.

The words swarm my brain and I close my eyes, and dig my fingers into my desk. I can't concentrate. How? Nobody knows me at this school...except Jonah. And that's not really even knowing me, I just body slammed him in the hallway and awkwardly ran into him in the supply closet. I know where you were last night.

Maybe it was Jonah. No. Why would it be him? He wouldn't be interested in my life. I'm not even interested in my life for crying out loud! So...who was it?

I can't take it anymore. I flip open the note from my pocket and smooth out the page.

I know where you were last night.  Wait. How did I not notice this before...the letters. It wasn't all even...

i KnOW whERE yOu weRe lAst night. I pick out the capitalized letters and write them down.

K, O, W, E, R, E, R, A.

What? The letters seemed familiar, but I couldn't figure it out. I tried unscrambling them next.

A K O R E R
A W K O R E R
K E R A W O R E A

K E R E W O _ _ _
R O A _

The sentence seemed familiar. But the letters I needed where missing...

K E R E W O O D
R O A D

That's it! I smiled to myself and folded the paper, stuffing it into my pocket. Now, if only I could find Kerewood Road, I might be able to find out who knows my secret.
