PLAYLIST.

PLAYLIST.

A Poem by EmmaMay

There's vacancy in these wide hallways,
sounds of anxious voices in the distance
fluttering through the air.
But the playlist fills my ears now,
I'm waiting,
waiting on my que
The passport lays between my clammy palms,
leaning back and closing
these tired eyes.

The playlist kept on repeat,
until my feet hit new ground.
Every unfamiliar face,
every unfamiliar voice,
They are kept as a blur.
Your picture is folded up in my clammy hands now,
until your face is all I see.

The playlist sings me to sleep now,
where I drown
in an unfamiliar sea.
The playlist sings me a lullaby,
even though sleep
is the last thing I need.
The playlist talks to me,
tells me home is where
my heart should lie.
So this playlist I dedicate to you,
so I'll never forget why I wont go back home.

Words from an older soul than indicated in numbers gives a vivid glimpse of both pain and wisdom...before finishing in perfection.
Thanks for the share.

And there is the slam at the end, I knew there was something about this that just screamed different. Id like to hear that playlist now

Awesome, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

The last line is a big shift from what I assumed would be a love poem. Perhaps the songs are about getting away, flying away, or leaving a bad person or experience behind.

In any case, well done.
