Prologue: On the Idiocy of People

Prologue: On the Idiocy of People

A Chapter by Emma Lynn
"

Dmitri doesn't have the most optimistic view toward the things...

"

People are idiots. I have come to that conclusion.

Yeah, I know, to many of you, this is not a new sentiment. A lot of people think this way. And others, you may think, “That’s a rather pessimistic outlook, isn’t it, Dmitri?” But after thousands of years of watching you guys, it’s come to me more rock-solid than ever. People. Are. Stupid. End of story.

It is true, of course, that humans have the greatest abilities to think and comprehend of animals on Earth. Therefore, it shocks me when they find ways to screw themselves over so damned thoroughly.

Speaking of the average, nothing-special Joe-Schmo from some suburb in Nebraska, their stupidity tends not to get them in world-changing trouble. Yeah, they may not know what they’re talking about half the time, they could have their priorities twisted beyond recognition, but generally they don’t have huge historical impact. The worst crimes most people commit are either submission to more powerful stupid people, or reproducing and indoctrinating a child into their unique brand of stupidity. It’s a vicious cycle.

            And yet…

Notice, please, that “all” does not prelude my thoughts on the intelligence of humans.

There are times when I almost like the things. Sometimes they surprise me. Sometimes, beneath all that intellect, there is someone who actually thinks.

            This was one such time.

Author's Note

Emma Lynn
Short little prologue. More will be explained about Dmitri later. Next chapter, Dmitri starts telling the story and stops complaining - okay, so not really the latter...
