I've been told this afternoon that a transfer to a nearer hospital is not on the cards for a while yet as he's still not well enough. They want him to be able to eat independently, which he can't do yet, and to be stronger than he currently is. At that point they will transfer him to a general ward within the Glasgow hospital until they are sure that he is well enough to come to a local hospital.
They are not sure at this point how the stroke has affected him, and whether he will in fact get any better. This will be devastating for both of us.
You may not be aware that Ken has hereditary deafness and wears two hearing aids. I'm not convinced they are working properly and so am putting pressure on the ICU dept to have them checked by the audiology dept. Not being able to hear could be hampering his progress. However I take comfort in knowing that he is able to read his Kindle, and understood the BBC news item I gave him to read last Tuesday.
I'm grateful for the nice comments on the site, and will read them out to him. In the meantime could you all use your collective power of thought to wish him to get better. Things just aren't the same with him missing from my life.
Ken's writings reveal him to be a man of great spirit. May that spiritual power encompass him and return him to his former life renewed.

Thanks for posting Emma. I'm sure Ken will pull through eventually, could be a long road, and I hope Helen is holding up too. Terrible ordeal to go through. Best wishes Andrew.
Let's hope he's using this time of convalescence in thought of painting more words with his pen and reimagining the spectacular scenery he describes so vividly with pen and brush.
Our thoughts are with you Ken.

Your name and kind will be passed on or read by Helen. Many thanks :)
I believe in the power of prayer. We don't need an altar. Even when words are unspoken, God knows what is in your heart. May the myriad of days ahead grant you the strength you seek, and the life that is missing, returned. My prayers are steadfast with you, Helen, and Ken. Please keep us informed! Love and light!
