"
Born ten minutes apart
 a she, a he, a pair -
Both less than seven pounds,
 long limbed, hair wavy fair

She, named Delilah, was
 this twosome's leading light
Sam, her bro, was darker,
and e'en more so at night

As babies didn't really know
the right way from its wrong
But one could scrawl musica,
the other sing a song

Yet as they grew older their
 hair longer did shoulders go,
nicely warm an' snug when
 the weather turned to snow

Aware modern styles, the
 sister's head was shorn near
bald but Sam's stayed nicely
 warm whilst  Lila's ever cold

Time passed by an' Sam's
 hair was daily much admired
but his twin became envious
 her mood an' less desired

One night in a fever, she
took sheers to cut his locks
but - forgot to remember that
had gone back the tic a tocs

He was out with his buddies
 to sample pints of  beer
so zig-zagged his way home
 hilarious with cheer

Upstairs he crept to find a truly
sorry sight, his teddy bears had
been shorn of hair coz sis had
sleepwalked through the night!

I simply LOVE this wonderfully inked story of the twins Samson & Delilah, the differences between them (apart from the obvious) and the delightful twist at the end of the story was nothing short of brilliant, a very masterful write, Emma. Thank you so very much for sharing. I so enjoyed reading...

I so agree, dear Emma. Wishing you a very lovely, relaxed and pleasant evening to enjoy...
okay, i secretly wished it rhymed throughout, but the narrative of this poem had won me over. it is such a interesting multi-layered study of a relationship between siblings. there's love, there's jealousy, there's a lot of things. and the rhythm added a whole new layer -- it brings melody, suggesting that despite all their difficulties the pair still stand by each other, or at least dance arund each other when necessary.

That was a fun write ! How your imagination flowed from just a prompt hair, wonderful @emmajoygreen ...evoked mixed feelings especially at the end. Thinking of angry twin sister and humorous bear scene wt furs chopped. Usually people drink to let their hair down but for the twin bro he got to keep up his hair hehe enjoyed !

Poor, poor Sam. Now he must sleep with bald teddies! Oh, what a cruel, sleep walking sister. Are you sure this isn't taken from some ancient Greek myth? A fun read, my friend.

I can picture this! Twins make a fascinating topic, don’t they? They can also be rivals. Another great tribute to the theme of hair—thank you!

Big smile.
And all that from a prompt of hair? I've just been telling myself minimalism is back in fashion, as mine was only five lines long, but maybe length of piece coincides with actual length of hair. What do you think Rapunzel? 😃
I do hope in her horror of finding out she got her sewing needle out and made all the teddies better, after her shenananagi.....shenagagi....sleepwalkery! 😃
