Playing Games

Playing Games

A Poem by Emma Cathryn

You played a game
with guns and war.
You shot me down,
and left me there
hurt and dead.
I cried away
all the pain,
but more comes back.
I hate this game.
Love is lost,
hearts are dead.
I can't look back,
not again.
My fingers are numb,
I can not see.
My eyes are shut
ever so tightly.
Do I want
to see the light?
See the scars
from all the fights?
I stepped out,
I'm out of bounds.
Just walk away,
there's one escape.
