Meeting the Eye

Meeting the Eye

A Poem by Emma Cathryn
"

This started out to be a prologue, but I thought poetry would suit it better.

"
They all think that just because I'm quiet
that I'm dangerous.
They all have their assumptions.
The quote
'Don't judge a book by it's cover'
doesn't only apply to
certain people.
Everyone does it,
even if they didn't mean to.
It's just a force of habit.
We were even taught to do so
at a young age.
If something seems off about them,
don't talk to the stranger -
even though he only wishes
for someone to listen.
White vans tend to mean
strangers who want to take you away -
even though it's a definite chance
the people in the car lost their house.
Lost dogs have rabies -
though they just want someone
to care for them.
In most cases -
in all cases,
there is more
to everything
than meets the eye.
