Punctual PunctuationA Poem by emipoemiGive me a bunch of commas, I will run my words with a motor mouth, Taking the time to tack on the tally of details Necessary to complete the cycle of my days, My nights, my seasons, my senses, my dreams, The love in my heart that plays the charms on a single string, The life in my soul that prospers on a simple ember, The consequential circumstance of being, Whistling in the wind until I, short of breath, Am rendered comatose;
Give me a bunch of dashes - I bridge the space between my fragments - Loosely linked and profoundly singular - Identity is not defined as whole - Even the world has a flip side - I shine in the shadows - I shadow the shines - Hankering for hyphenation; Give me a bunch of colons: The elusive answers to my questions Lie in exclamatory lists and records Of parenthetical perspectives At the margin of organic matter That curb digestive carcinogens; Give me a bunch of apostrophes ’N I’ll m’k elis’ns in my sp’ch T’ fash’n th’ ebb ’n flow o’ language With a nat’ral grace; Give me a bunch of ellipses And…. Give me a bunch of periods. (I need say no more) -EDP © 2024 emipoemiReviews
