Under Orion and Sirius

Under Orion and Sirius

A Poem by emipoemi

Amidst the splendid scintillating sky,

The wardens of the night regard

The weary world of worry.

And with their bow and head held high

The Hunter and Great Dane put up their guard.

Across the rolling mountains, valleys, seas,

Along the ghostly boulevard,

Where all is bleak and blurry-

No finer pair of entities

Have in so glorious a pageant starred.

The snowbirds flock and flutter with a fuss

Towards a warmer greener yard

To flee the flurry fury,

Though nothing is as serious

As Sirius and Orion’s noble guard.

With steady strides into the balmy breeze,

Life never has to be so hard

(Heed neither hitch nor hurry!)

The world may work and play at ease

With Sirius and Orion standing guard.

Almost every night, as I take our dog out, I stand in the yard and look at Orion's Belt. Years ago I read about the stars and the galaxy that is in the sheath. Then I spot Betelgeuse. It's one of my cherished nightly habits. I like this poem. Poetry writers impress me.

Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. Feel free to read more at your leisure.
There is always that ever present night sky, that has remained mostly unchanged, that can give you comfort when times are confusing. You've expressed that wonderfully well. This is great poem with a wicked rhyme scheme. I liked it a lot. Have a good one.
