Two Blind MenA Poem by emipoemiTwo blind men walk along the street With an arm over each other’s shoulder, White canes out to make their progress neat, As each step taken makes them bolder. Words between them seldom are exchanged- Strolling, listening, they on occasion Are incited to become engaged Temporarily in conversation. And both that instant had in mind To ask how the other went blind. Neither one, however,
could say how, Being loath to tragic times remember; Neither one could say
they thus have now In their memories a
spark or ember. Two blind men walk along the street With an arm over each other’s shoulder, White canes out to guide their shifting feet Day by day as they grow older. For they the streets without cease roam, Unsure of the way back home. -EDP © 2017 emipoemiAuthor's Note
