The Gobbler of BooksA Poem by emipoemiGargantuan with head held high And tail fanned out against the sky, It gazes South, expression plain, And ev’ry day, in shine or rain, Despite the fact it’s heard by none, To ev’rything and ev’ryone It gobbles on about the tales Of mystery, and of travails, The fairy tales, and tales of fright, And all the rest that bring delight. For it this knowledge wants to share With common people ev’rywhere, And influence them more and more To come and leisurely explore Its myriad of pleasant nooks Stacked high with captivating books, And maybe sit and read the first That makes their fascination burst. For only then could ev’ry word The bird is gobbling be heard Ensuring all inside and out Have more to gobble on about. -EDP © 2017 emipoemiReviews
