Music

Music

A Poem by emipoemi

It’s music most that makes the world go round.

No matter what, no matter where, it’s there

Enchanting all with its melodic sound.

The echoes of its voice each day resound

With its unique and satisfying flair.

It’s music most that makes the world go round.

In ev’ry note is something so profound

That elegantly whistles through the air,

Enchanting all with its melodic sound.

And, as the people go to where they’re bound,

It rids their minds of ev’ry sombre care.

It’s music most that makes the world go round.

The spectacle it brings is so renowned,

The influence it leaves beyond compare,

Enchanting all with its melodic sound.

There’s nothing that within it can’t be found,

There’s nothing that it wouldn’t want to share.

It’s music most that makes the world go round,

Enchanting all with its melodic sound.

According to Wikipedia; ‘Music is found in every known culture, past and present, varying widely between times and places. Since all people of the world, including the most isolated tribal groups, have a form of music, it may be concluded that music is likely to have been present in the ancestral population prior to the dispersal of humans around the world. Consequently, music may have been in existence for at least 55,000 years and the first music may have been invented in Africa and then evolved to become a fundamental constituent of human life.’ Your delightful write certainly encapsulates this theme most eloquently! :-)

I chose to listen expecting "something" entirely different. And I really haven't a clue of just what I wanted to hear - strange how we each have our own expectations and perceptions of want.

A light flair and softly melodious tone throughout.

*standing ovation*

What a wonderful job you've done here with the villanelle form!

You're my kind of poet, I can see that already.

And you're 100% right about music! :)

Your poem reads almost like music. It is a lovely poem on a lovely subject. Music is vibration and meets us a very deep level.

Ohm is a mantra or vibration that is often changed. The Ohm symbol and sound represent the sound of creation, so not only does music make the world go round, it existed before the world. The Mandukya Upanishad, which is entirely devoted to ohm, begins like this: “Ohm is the imperishable word. Ohm is the universe, and this is the exposition of ohm.

I love music. I think it resonates with everyone on such a soulful level. No matter where you go, no matter what type of music, everyone likes music. I have very eclectic tastes when it comes to music, and I listen to music from all around the world. In languages not my own, I may not understand the words, but I always feel the music.

Great job with this melodic Villanelle.

Thank you for reading and for the tidbits of information. Glad you enjoyed it.
Hello, emi! :)
I like music too, so I came to see. More often than not, the villanelles that I come upon are awkward phrases layered with too much repetition for the substance; pretty couplets that have been stretched and stuffed to fit the form. I rarely find one that I like.
In this, you've expressed quite a bit, the rhyme sound are pleasant, and I think the line "Enchanting all with its melodic sound" read well throughout. Nicely done!

hi, i love your rhyming ability and the way you analyze and personify music. i sense adoration in this poem. you also do a great job of sticking to form, making the words flow really beautifully. that is something many writers struggle with, including me lol! anyways, great job!
