Seasonal ComplaintsA Poem by emipoemiIn Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring- No matter what the seasons bring- We all, however bold or sane, Are always likely to complain.
In Autumn comes a crimson tide, Which leisurely flows far and wide. In awe we watch its splendour spread As trees shed leaves of gold and red.
Yet with the need to take a rake To all these leaves, our backs would break. We daily labour in the yard: O why must Autumn be so hard?
By Winter snowflakes swirl around While softly whitening the ground, Developing a wonderland Where peace and joy walk hand in hand.
But when air freezes, pressure falls, And frost comes creeping up the walls. We’re wrapped in blankets sevenfold: O why must Winter be so cold?
The sun of Spring melts all the snow, And helps the gardens neatly grow. Life flourishes and colours gleam Once more as in a pleasant dream.
But showers rain throughout the days, There’s seldom ever any rays. We from our windows watch, upset: O why must Spring be grey and wet?
The Summer skies are often clear, For mainly would the sun appear To dry up all the floods of Spring, While birds and insects chirr and sing.
And yet humidity takes hold, Impelling us to want the cold. Our salty sweat cannot be fought: O why must Summer be so hot?
In Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring- No matter what the seasons bring- We all, however bold or sane, Are always likely to complain. -EDP © 2018 emipoemiReviews
