Stargazer

Stargazer

A Story by emilythestrange

If you were in Wales, and you were at a small, grassy beach with hills surrounding it, you quite probably would have seen her. You'd think "Oh, she has nice blonde hair" or maybe " Her eyes are quite nice" , if you could see her properly. If you we're down on the beach, looking up at the grassy hill she was laying on, you might look at her and think nothing of it. She's a girl, you might think, nothing completely put of the ordinary . You'd think nothing of the fact that she wears two sweat bands, one on each wrist. You might think it a bit strange to be wearing leather boots and jeans in the height of summer, but you'd walk on. Forget about her. If your mind did linger on slightly longer than any other persons, you might think that her sunflower T-shirt was quite nice. You might think that she has a completely normal name, one nothing like Alice or Missy or Amelie or Posy. But, just maybe, if you were like her, you might think about these things. You'd wonder if she was lonely or popular, if she was going home once she was finished at the beach or if she was going to stay with her friends . You'd give her a strange, star gazers name like Alice or Missy or Amelie or Posy. You'd wonder if she'd been running earlier that day, or if she just liked wearing the sweat bands, or if she had a reason behind them. You'd wonder if she didn't like the grass brushing her ankles, or if she just liked wearing boots, or if she was clinging onto some memory that was related to the them.
You wouldn't forget about her, that strange girl on the hill. Because you, like her, believe that every single person in this world deserves to be remembered. You know a million names and a million faces, you have star gazers all over the world clinging to the very ounce of memory they need to survive.
You, just like the girl on the hill, are a star gazer.
