A Familiar

A Familiar

A Poem by Emily Sutliff

I like the feeling of having a “familiar.”

A familiar place where we are a bit more easy

with our minds.

The kind of familiar taste you crave at a local pub that exists

nowhere else.

That one familiar person that enlightens your soul, and only this person gives you a familiar comfort.

The type of familiar that only feels right at certain times of the day.

A big idea, in the small scheme of things.

Maybe, you don’t even realize this “familiar” feeling is even there.

That’s why it hits you now; this familiar idea.

It’s a “familiar unknown” that we actually become familiar

with.
