Forbidden Words

Forbidden Words

A Poem by Emily Robinson
"

If I were to write a Hip Hop or Rap song, these are the lyrics.

"

Use a word five times in a sentence and it loses it’s meaning

As if a word could encompass all that you are feeling

You are sad because your hopes fell through

Broken up because of nasty things that people do

What if that word you use could be… replaced with silence?

Moments of peace to overcome… these verbal acts of violence?

What if the chaos that exists within your heart,… could be diminished?

as these words of wrath fall apart… fall apart…fall apart?

What if those walls you built… suddenly became broken?

A fracture letting in… the One who is outspoken?

You’re afraid because of what this might mean

But wouldn’t peace be better than all this suffering?
