Wasted YearsA Poem by Emily RobinsonSometimes accepting "What Is" is important for letting us look ahead to "What Can Be".
I cannot look at these times and say they weren’t meant to be Nor can I face you and say you’ll never be released I can only hope that through the pain and in my tears Meaning will come from what has felt like wasted years
I cannot face the bitter facts and say they are not true Nor can I erase the darkened shadows hovering over you I can only hope that through folded hands soaked with tears Relief will come after what has felt like wasted years
We can look at the past as a monster we escaped from we can look to the future as a chance for who we can become As these dreams for peace gradually become true We will awaken beneath the sunrise, and my eyes will rest on you
My eyes will rest on you.
