This Tree

This Tree

A Poem by emily joe

I"ll stand up for the tree

That stood up for me

When the world hid in shadows

Of shades gray

The truth is written

On bathrrom stall doors

Engraved in the pavement

On the sidewalks

Right in front of your picket fenced house

And you miss it

You walk past it everyday

And when it rains

You remember that day

That you stood

Underneath my tree

       D R Y

Pea coat toggles done to the top

As the sky filled your rain boots

With tears

The truth is written

On bathroom stall doors

Open your eyes

See the truth

I really like this poem. The truth is definitely all over and those who need to realize it the most are often the ones who walk past it unknowingly. Nicely done!!

We do forget to appreciate the simple things in our life... that is until we notice the ugly things that complicate our existence.
