Cold

Cold

A Poem by emily joe

Their bedroom is warm, and the scene is left on pause

The audience watching, enthused with applause

The book on the floor

Is open, pages unread

The blood in the carpet,

Whsipers words unsaid

The cuts on Mom's wrists

The gash in Dad's head

The three red headed girls,

Strangled, and dead

A family that's over

A story untold

And five sets of lips,

Unkissed, and forever cold

"And five sets of lips,
Unkissed, and forever cold'

{a desolate mood of death here-expressed with an excellent rhyme scheme}

a magnificent 'cold' poem!!!

good job! lyrical and stright to the guts of the scene. the meter is right on. sounds good out loud. compleatly without superflous words. terse and harsh. good. i think this is the best of your iv read.

Amityville...dark.

Generally I don't like poetry that rhymes because it tends to feel forced, but this just has such a natural feel that it's absolutely beautiful in a tragically dark sort of way...

Very nice. Did you intentionally shape this poem into a urn?
