Eternal Light

Eternal Light

A Poem by emilychristabel

He looked at her with eyes of belonging,

His gaze as powerful as a billion glass shards, piercing through her gentle eyes, shaking her condemned soul

She watched as his warm finger stroked her delicate, rosy lips

Mesmerised, frightened

Her face pale, tired,

Yet strikingly beautiful in the contrast of the moonlight shadowing across her petite features

The light reflecting in her eyes as if they became a thousand gleaming stars

Temporarily illuminating the world

Hypnotic in her own unique perfection

That could last a lifetime

But the night is over.

His grasp tightened

Sliding down her smooth, trembling throat

Gasping became choking

He breathed in her life

Slowly, softly

The stars twinkled in gratification

They had received their goddess.
