Secret Affair

Secret Affair

A Poem by Emilee Grimm

It sparkles and gleams like treasure,

and sticks to my hands.

It nestles itself under my fingernails,

wanting to merge with my skin.

It finds its way into every crevice of my body,

proving it doesn’t want to leave.

But I can’t sit here forever,

so I make a promise to come back next year.

And continue my secret love affair

With the sand.

Reviews

Different and original
Is it about a holiday romance or just the feeling you get on your last day on the beach, just before you have to go back to the rat race?
The latter, I think
But hay, what do I know?
