Holding on

Holding on

A Poem by Emilee Grimm

your eyes

are what i miss the most

your smile

is what made my world better

you made me a victim

under your spell

someday, i hope.

someday, i wish.

you will wake up

you will realize who you are

you'll know

you'll remember

who i am.

who we were

who we can be.

they say you won't.

you are as good as dead.

"don't wish."

"don't hope."

"don't lie." they say.

but here i wait

in my chair

by your bed

holding you hand

and onto hope.

and i hold on

to you.
