Remember Me?

Remember Me?

A Poem by Emilee Grimm

I want the attention you give

But instead you focus on something else

I feel like we hardly speak;

Like what you do in your spare time is more important

I know I sound like a broken record

But this issue isn’t being fixed

You say “One more and I’m all yours”

But it’s never that way

I offer my body to you, hoping it will get your attention

So I wait for a while, hoping you won’t forget

But instead we fall asleep when you’re done, both exhausted

I wasted my energy waiting and you wasted yours playing

It’s like an endless cycle

I feel somewhat important and then go back to feeling like a hindrance

I know I am moody

I know it seems as though I am hard to please

But truly, I am not.

When we wake up, when I am at work, when I come home

You make time for you

But we then become neglected

I just want consistency

A cycle I can keep up with

Something to hold onto

I don’t want guilt or shame in this

I just want us to be happy

Strong write, the feelings of being cast away or being made to feel unimportant definitely come through in this, it's very honest and raw, and you lay it all out without any shame about the wants or needs that you have from the other person, which is intense and I feel should happen between two people more often, good job!

*Takes deep breaths and wipes away a stray tear* That, my friend, was not only emotional, but I felt everything, if only it was changed to a male's perspective. I can relate to the feelings of never having time with your other half; it's as if they are more important than everyone else. If people would only take the time to learn before they judged, or just forgot about you, life would be a better place. Anyway, great poem and hopefully I'll read more.

Thank you so much! :D
Nice work. I feel like you got an ample amount of emotions out in this, if in a more literal way. Would like to see you fit in something that relates to the title of this poem, as that is what brought me here in the first place. Any type of memory can be a very powerful tool. Especially in writing. Keep it up. ~Never Forget
