Lamentations

Lamentations

A Poem by emia
"

in remembrance of my grandfather who can't remember who i am

"
The dizziness from last night's rivalry
tore my mind into pieces.
It ripped out my heart
and folded it within nonexistent creases.
The cracks and stains that will perpetually remain,
deep within the year's past
Though the days go on and on
one's consciousness will never last.
The smell of disaster, of defect in life
lurks among the youthful air
The more we smoke and drink pleasure
the faster, yet stronger darkness can compare.
I see a soul within death's eyes
that give up sympathy.
It screams denial
and declares empathy.
The choke of anguish
that hides hope,
I watch him suffer
how can I cope?
I escape these walls and can't look back
Hold tight to the one's you love
and turn off the clock.
