Fingerprints Upon My Soul

Fingerprints Upon My Soul

A Poem by Julia

There's this place in me where your fingerprints still rest, your kisses still linger, and your whispers softly echo. It's the place where a part of you will forever be a part of me. ~ Gretchen Kemp

I felt you in the car today as I ran errands

Your face was nuzzled between my breasts

I watched other couples at the restaurant

I remembered the times we were there

I went to the store to buy some food

I lingered in the frozen food isle

Recalling the time you jumped over the open cases

Just so I wouldn’t have to walk around

I remember the times you slid your hand into mine

At very unexpected moments

The touch your hand at the small of my back

Guiding me into the room

Your laugh

The moment you opened the door at home

“helloooo, helloooo, it’s me”

The way you giggled deep within your soul

Each time we hugged

Cooking you dinner

Kissing

Forever in my heart

Forever you are gone

Forever my heart aches

In the fingerprints you left upon my soul
