I Do Not Know

I wrote this poem after a lovely afternoon with my family at the beach.

I do not know the reason of my existence, BUT

I do know I strive to live rather than simply exist.

 

I do not know what the ultimate truth is, BUT

I do know it lies meshed between thousands upon thousands of myths.

I do not know what path my life is destined to take, BUT

I do know that I desire the road to have not yet been paved.

 

I do not know if I am correct in every choice I make, BUT

I do know that I want to be corrected whenever I make a mistake.

I do not know if tomorrow will bring in a new day, BUT

I do know that I want to accomplish something that will effect the world today.

I do not know if I will ever embark on a great feat, BUT

I do know that I never want to settle with defeat.

I do not know how many times my heart will ultimately beat, BUT

I do know that I want the pulse to be heard on every street.

I DO KNOW at some point in my life I will make a stir, BUT

I DO NOT KNOW when G-D will take my hand or when He will have it occur .

this was my second poem I wrote, about two years after "where i belong", and I was fortunate again to have it published in a national newspaper!
