VoyagerA Poem by EmeraldFacet
The ocean itself is vast and deep
Many who visit fear approaching The water level quickly turning too steep The tales both confusing and opposing She's warm she's cold She's craven she's bold Shes placid she's furious She's disinterested she's curious Cowards refrain to journey past the shore Comes a voyager with the courage to explore An adventurer not by choice but by fate Home sick for a home whose creation has no date Unaware their destiny enmeshed and entwined When you set sail in November what did you intend to find? With the power to drown, chose the sorrows Lent faith to daydream of prosperous tomorrows Suffocating depths instead used to prop you afloat The success of your voyage always one to promote Philosophers claim 'to love is to give' Searching now for drop of mercy for herself to forgive She loved him too early And then loved him too late No amount of treasure, shiney or pearly Could wager an alternate ending to this fate I suppose the sea is no place for a man to dwell So I'll ask the moon to pull the tide to softly swell To deliver you safely back to stable shore So life can continue on land just as it did before Once the wetness on your body has dried And youve flicked the clusters of salt off your edges You'll add to the ocean tales from your side A perplexing story of how wide her stubbornness stretches When you soar up above the clouds and your wings get weary and fray The horizon appearing further away each passing moment of the day Thinking to land on the soft surface of the water to catch your breath for a moment and stay It was the heart of the ocean you silently returned on anniversary day. © 2021 EmeraldFacet |
