Reflections

A Poem by EmeraldFacet

If I had to describe before me the man
With wonderment in my eyes I would say
He is where the new season began
Along with the autumn wind, he personifies 'Come What May'

A listening ear that hears more than what is said
Rescues jumbled thoughts that bury themselves inside a head
Genuine laughter that swells a heart with joy
Effortlessly escapes the edges of the lips of this sweet boy
The gaze in his eyes is where all of life's worries melt away
Like the stillness of a sunrise that gently awakens all life with its warmest ray

The rhythm of his heart beat
To have felt in the center of my palm
The same one I listened to so closely
That made life, even just for a moment, feel ever so calm
Taught me how to unlock my grip to love with an open hand
To tenderly hold a wild sparrow, this is what one must understand

I wish I could show you when you are at your darkest
How bright you shine onto the world
The thoughts and ideas you conjure are some of the sharpest
How you set forth a novel path with joy I will watch it unfurl
I won't expect to receive more than you would ever want to give
With gratitude I can say I feel blessed that in your lifetime I get to live

So when you look in the mirror
Tell me what is it that you see?
Does the reflection recognize
The man that stares back at me?

I hope peace will find you wherever your body lies
In whichever corner of the world you choose to close your eyes
And in a sky full of stars that twinkle in a desert canvas so bright
Remember to look up if you ever need to be reminded that you are loved
As its light will permanently shine throughout the night

I believe that embers of the past have just enough potential to start a fire in our soul, enableing each one of us to, not become great for ourselves, but rather to do something great for someone else.. more..
