Big Girls Don't Cry

Big Girls Don't Cry

A Poem by MaryP

Big girls don’t cry

My mum smiled as she wiped my tears.

Big girls don’t cry

They overcome their fears

Big girls don’t cry

Big girls must stay strong

Big girls don’t cry

Big girls just carry on

Big girls don’t cry

So you just go ahead and smile

Big girls don’t cry

But soon sadness turns hostile

Big girls don’t cry

Soon I had to learn how to pretend

Big girls don’t cry

I hid my emotions from family and friends

Big girls don’t cry

The tears turned to shouts

Big girls don’t cry

My confidence turned to doubt

Big girl’s don’t cry

Except sometimes, mum, they might

Big girls don’t cry

Maybe you’re not always right

This is lovely. I love it. The way you repeated the line was a really smart way of making it a chant. I enjoyed reading this a lot.
